Mammoth Hot Springs to West Yellowstone

Start the Day Have breakfast at 7 AM (as usual), pack, suite up, and meet in the remote snowmobile parking lot at 9:00 AM. You will need to check out, but our hotel costs are already paid. If you didn't buy gas last night, but it now.
Travel We'll travel 49 miles from Mammoth Hot Springs via Norris Geyser Basin and Madison Junction to West Yellowstone. The only new scenery here is the stretch between Norris Geyser Basin and Madison Junction. Last trip we say lots of wildlife along this stretch of trail. We will be back in West Yellowstone by 11 AM.
Lunch Meet at the Coachman Inn at the Stagecoach Inn (time TBD).
Optional Activity You have the afternoon off! Relax. Put your feet up and watch TV. Take some time to shop and take in the local scene.

For the adventuresome, hop back on the old snowmobile and lets dig up some powder. In Yellowstone we were restricted to the trails. In the Gallatin National Forrest we can make our own trails. There's also an old airport that has some exciting straight runs to see how fast you can get the snowmobile to go, or to churn up some powder in the small trees.

Dinner Dinner is at 7 PM at a location to be determined later.
Optional Activity If you haven't seen the stars at night in Montana, go with us to a quiet field away from the lights of the big city (West Yellowstone!). The cold winter air is great for watching stars, meteors, and spotting satellites.

There is also a card game in somebody's room. Who wants to volunteer your room?

Thursday - South Plateau.
