from Pahaska past back through the east gate. You will also ride through the Hayden
Valley where winter looks real. Snow-covered rolling hills blend into
valleys making the landscape look like fluffy pillows. |
| Lunch | We'll have lunch at Canyon Village. It's a quaint little spot with great microwave food :((. Trust me. By the time we get to Canyon Village anything will taste good. |
| Travel | Beautiful in any season, there is nothing like the
incredible Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone in the winter! Snow clings to
the canyon walls and ice forms up the sides of the waterfalls creating
totally different views than may be found at any other time of the year.
It is truly breathtaking!
Travel to Mammoth Hot Springs to view the unique travertine terraces. Include a stop at Norris Geyser Basin to see the Porcelain Basin, one of the Park's spectacular and colorful thermal basins. Walk through Back Basin to view Echinus and Steamboat Geysers. Travel on to mammoth, passing Roaring Mountain. The numerous steam vents on the rock slope truly gives the impression that the mountain is roaring. The groomed trail ends a few miles before we Mammoth and shuttle service is available to take us into town to view the colorful terraces. |
| End the Day |
Mammoth isn't the Ritz. There are no TVs but you do get a telephone (maybe). You should feel really good about having your own bathroom, many of the rooms at Mammoth don't. |
| Dinner | We'll meet for dinner at 7PM. |
| Optional Activity | Walk up and see the Hot Springs. They are pretty spectacular. You can also rent ice skates of you feel the need for additional butt busting. |
